Private, without the fine print feeling
One private space. The details, made clear.
These answers describe the Private Thoughts application. Website measurement and browser technologies are covered separately in the Website Cookie Policy.
Your Notes, Journal entries, Journey goals, checkpoints, settings, and attached media stay on your device by default, inside the application’s private storage.
Yes. Private content is encrypted on your device. If you enable cloud backup, the application creates a separate encrypted recovery copy before it is uploaded to the private app storage associated with your iCloud or Google Drive account.
No. Private Thoughts is local by default. Cloud backup is optional and only needed if you want an additional recovery copy outside the device.
Your existing content remains private and available in read-only mode. You can still view, export, back up, restore, or delete it, but creating or editing content requires the one-time purchase.
No. The one-time purchase is processed and verified through Apple StoreKit or Google Play Billing. Private Thoughts does not operate a payment backend and does not receive your card details, store password, receipt, purchase token, or order identifier from the app.
No. Backup is designed for recovery, not live synchronization. It does not move your working data away from the device or overwrite local content without an explicit restore action.
Keep access to your device and cloud account, and store your recovery code somewhere safe. The readable key is not stored with the cloud backup. On iOS, secure recovery may also be available through end-to-end encrypted iCloud Keychain. If every usable recovery method is lost, encrypted content may be impossible to restore, including for us.
No. The app does not send us product telemetry, advertising identifiers, moods, goals, or private writing. Personal insights are calculated locally, and your private content is not sent to AI services for processing or training.
Notes capture ideas, Journal entries preserve reflections and moods, and Journeys turn meaningful goals into checkpoints. You can connect Notes and Journal entries to a goal or a specific checkpoint so progress keeps its context.
Yes. You can use supported export and sharing options, create encrypted backups, delete individual items, or remove all app data. Once exported to another service, that destination’s privacy rules apply. Deleted content without a usable backup may not be recoverable.
No. Mood labels and local insights are tools for personal reflection. They are not medical, psychological, diagnostic, or therapeutic advice and do not replace qualified professional support.
